Ormon Hill Vineyard is located on the north end of the Mt. Camel Range
in the appellation of Heathcote. The vines are perched above Green’s
Lake near the small community of Corop. Ormon Hill’s close proximity
to Green’s Lake creates a unique micro-climate which protects
the vines from frost, and provides a constant air flow to the vineyard.
The property the vineyard sits on was once a sheep farm and many of
the old farm buildings still stand on the property. In fact, the old
sheep shearing shed now houses the vineyard’s lab and break room.
Ormon Hill grows premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
2001 Shiraz
Ormon Hill’s 2001 Shiraz was hand picked and
aged in American Oak barrels for 18 months prior to bottling. It is
characteristic of a Heathcote Shiraz with a nose of spice, white pepper,
and plum. This wine also exhibits fine dry tannins. Ormon Hill’s
exceptional color is a stunning opaque black crimson. Food pairing suggestion:
red meat and lamb dishes.
Coming Soon: 2002 Shiraz & 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
