Mount Burrumboot Estate is located in the Mt. Camel Range in the Heathcote
appellation. The name is derived from a peak located on the Mt. Camel
Range. Mount Burrumboot vineyards has evolved from an old family farm
which raised lambs and grew grains including barley and hay, to a producer
of wine grapes. Today they have gone a step further creating several
veriatals from the best grapes of their harvest.
2002 Merlot
The 2002 Merlot is totally black in color
with a purple mauve hue. It displays a very opulent nose with intense
aromas of spice, plum, liquorice and mulberry. The palate flavors are
quite explosive and fill the mouth with layers of plum, spice and licorice,
followed by further layers of vanilla and cedar.
2002 Shiraz
The 2002 Shiraz is an outstanding fruit
filled wine with a totally black crimson color. This wine displays a
superb nose with aromas of spice, licorice, plum and cedar. The palate
is packed with primary fruit flavors but has not developed layers of
complexity at this stage. Mouth filling flavors of spice, black pepper
and plum exhibit a typical Heathcote Shiraz flavor, followed by layers
of plum, spice and chocolate. This Shiraz has excellent length with
fine dry tannins.
