Our Logo
You may wonder why our logo has a sheep jumping
over a wine bottle… well here is the answer. Heathcote is located
in the middle of Australia’s historic sheep farming area. As you
tour the Heathcote wine region you can see many of the old shearing
sheds peeking out above the vines. Today many of these sheds have been
converted into offices, break rooms or quality control labs. It is also
common to see a red sheep or two running around the vineyards, their
wool turned red from lying in the deep red cambrian soil. These sheep
are also used as a natural weed control for the vineyards after harvest.
It seemed only fitting that the Heathcote Cellars logo include one of
Heathcote’s most prominent members… the sheep! Erl, as he
is lovingly referred to by his creator, represents the intertwining
of the past, present and future of Heathcote, Australia.
